Two substantial arches of differing heights link Wall F with the putative position of the eleventh-century dorter and have already been noted. A second print of 1765, or 1761, shows, again from west to east, a large gap in the waI1, with an ecclesiastical structure arranged rather too artistically behind; directionally, the church of St John-sub-Castro perhaps. From these two prints, we do not have to look for a medieval explanation for FC; the gap was made between 1737 and 176115.

It was noticeably lower in height than any of the other openings and possessed what seems to be a relieving arch. In 1988, FG is higher; it has been straightened on the west and its original rounded arch cut off. This vice of Quarr Iimestone makes it clear that there was an upper storey and that an eleventh-century date is acceptable. The skew passage, FF, is puzzling. The entrance is at right-angles to Wall F, but the passage is cut obliquely through it. The present mishmash of greensand and modem mortar makes any sort of dating impossible.
